Manasquan Reservoir Named Top 100 Bass Fishing Lake in U.S.

The was recently named by Bassmaster Magazine as one of the nation's top spots for bass fishing, NorthJersey.com reported. 

The Howell reservoir was ranked 96th among the country's 100 best lakes for bass fishing. Lake Hopatcong, ranked 68th, was the only other New Jersey spot to make the list. 

A panel of writers, editors, professional anglers and fishing industry veterans made the final decisions on a list that took months to compile, the news site reported. 

The critera included each lake's current fishability, history, big-fish yield, quality potential and aesthetic surroundings, the report says. 

The best lake in the country, according to the magazine, is Falcon Lake in Texas, which straddles the Rio Grande on the Mexican border.
