Mets, Yankees Prospects to Highlight BlueClaws Homestand

Weather permitting, minor league baseball should be in full swing for the next nine days

The Lakewood BlueClaws, the Single 'A' Affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, are scheduled to kick off a nine-game homestand tonight when they take on the Charleston Riverdogs at 6:35 p.m.

After being away since April 15, returning to FirstEnergy Park should be just what the team needs having gone 3-6 on the road. This current swing home features not only the Riverdogs, the Yankee prospects in the league, but also the Savannah Sand Gnats, which is the South Atlantic League (SAL) affiliate of the New York Mets.

When it comes to the two-time SAL champions, the action on the field is only part of the fun, and this streak of home games includes promotions that the whole family will enjoy. The games on Sunday and Monday are "Kids Eat Free" contests where fans 12-years-old and younger get a voucher for a free hot dog, soda and chips.

Tuesday nights are Senior Day Tuesdays where seniors receive a voucher for the same items as kids days. Tuesdays are also Kraft Singles Tuesday Night Tickets where those in attendance who buy one ticket, get one free with a Kraft Singles purchase. Fans just have to bring a package wrapper to the game to get the free ticket.

The game against the RiverDogs on Wednesday will have a promotion for fans 17-and-under. The first 2000 will receive oversized baseball cards, and there will also be a Baseball & Science Show by Wonderology. Wednesday is also Dollar Dog Wednesday where small hot dogs are for sale on the first and third base concourses for just $1.

Thursday night is Thirsty Thursday at the ballpark. At the Coors Light WRAT Trap out in center field there will be beer and soda for $1 as well as wings for just 50 cents and a concert. And of course it would not be a Friday night at the home of the BlueClaws without a post-game fireworks display.

When the Sand Gnats come to town, the game on May 1 is also Replica Championship Banner Giveaway day. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. and first 2000 fans will receive a replica of their championship banner from last year. Sunday's game will also feature a Boating and Fishing Expo before the game.

The May 2 game against the Sand Gnats will also have a post-game Twizzlers give away for all fans in attendance. Wrapping up the time at home, May 3 will be the final game of the series against the Sand Gnats. It will also be a Kentucky Derby Celebration with a variety of ways to celebrate one of the biggest events in sports.

After this current streak of home games the BlueClaws will once again be back on the road with trips to Charleston and the Greensboro Grasshoppers. They will not be home again until May 13 for the first of a four game series against the Hagerstown Suns.

All promotions are subject to change and weather permitting. For more information on the BlueClaws and all their upcoming games and promotions check out their website or call (732) 901-7000.
