Former CBA Student James van Riemsdyk Taking the Ice at Sochi

The 24-year-old is at the Olympics with the Team USA hockey team.

A Middletown native is among the athletes looking for gold at the winter olympics in Sochi, Russia.

James van Riemsdyk, 24, is a member of the Team USA hockey team.

"Now to be here, it’s definitely a special feeling, but that’s all out the window and we have team goals we want to accomplish," van Riemsdyk told USA Today Monday.

Van Riemsdyk, a left-winger with the Toronto Maple Leafs, is in his fifth season with the National Hockey League. He attended Christian Brothers Academy.

Not sure he is a grad of CBA. Thought he left early to play in juniors out in Minnesota or somewhere like it

Thanks, polopete. You're correct - he attended CBA but left for Michigan.

Congratulations to JVR as he represents the USA in hockey! As a hockey family- it is inspiring to see what this wonderful young man had accomplished in his 24 years. May he continue to be a positive role model for all hockey players- and wishing him nothing but continued success in his hockey career and in his life!!
