Rebels Ready for Football

Season kicks off September 12 against Toms River North.

Football season is just two weeks away and that means two weeks for the Howell Rebels to prepare to rebound from a challenging 2012 season.

Looking to contend in the A North division Howell will have some tough road games and will be looking for support from the home crowd at the home of the Rebels. The first home game is set for Thursday night September 12 when the Mariners of Toms River North come to town. The Thursday night lights are due to Yom Kippur starting at sunset on Friday.

The Rebels will hit the road on September 21 for a Saturday afternoon battle against Freehold Regional High School District rival Marlboro for week 2. Friday night lights return to Howell on September 27 for what figures to be a big test against A North rival Middletown South. Kickoff for that game is set for 6:30 p.m.

Once that game is done the Rebels will get a week to regroup before hosting Toms River East on October 11. The local team will make one trip outside the Shore Conference for a Saturday October 19 afternoon tilt against St. Joseph’s High School of Metuchen.  That game will be their final warm-up before the always contentious battle against their nearby rivals from Freehold Township on the road October 25.

The Rebels will open November on the road at Middletown North on the first of the month before wrapping up the pre-playoff season with a game at home against Manalapan on November 8. This year’s Thanksgiving Day game against Colts Neck will be on the road at 10 a.m.
