Shaughnessy's Career Ends After a Loss in Atlantic City

Wrestling against the best in the state the Howell senior represented his team well

Senior Mike Shaughnessy was the only member of the Howell High School wrestling team to earn a trip to Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City this weekend.

And while he did not win a state title,  it is hard to argue the contributions he made to the team this year.

Shaughnessy's remarkable high school career came to an end with an 11-5 loss to  Antonio Mancella of Oakcrest. Mancella was the Region VIII runner-up and entered the tournament with a record of 27-4.

Shaughnessy, who was runner-up in the  Region VI Tournament that also saw him win the 140 title and his 100th career match, was an important part of the Rebels' success this year and will be missed now that his career has ended.
