Gov. Chris Christie appears to be looking well past his reelection bid, laying out a case to fellow Republicans that he can win in 2016, according to published reports.

Speaking to Republican leaders at a Boston conference Thursday Christie presented himself as the party’s most electable option to win back the White House in 2016, according to Politico.com.

The 41-minute luncheon speech was closed to reporters at Christie’s insistence but an attendee at the meeting offered a full recording of the governor’s comments to POLITICO, according to the report.

Christie told the group that if it wants to start winning elections, they should look to New Jersey as a model, according to the report.

“I’m in this business to win,” he said. “I don’t know why you’re in it…I think that we have some folks that believe that our job is to be college professors. Now college professors are fine, I guess. You know, college professors basically spout out ideas that nobody ever does anything about. For our ideas to matter, we have to win because, if we don’t win, we don’t govern. And if we don’t govern, all we do is shout into the wind. So I am going to do anything I need to do to win!”
