Howell Police, EMS Members Now Trained in the Use of Narcan

Narcan is a drug that can reverse an opioid overdose.

The Howell Township Governing Body, in conjunction with the Howell Police Department is pleased to announce the officers of the Police Department, and the paid Emergency Medical Services Unit members have been trained in the use of Narcan in the hopes of saving the lives of those who have made a poor decision, as well as those who have utilized medication legitimately but had an unanticipated negative reaction.

Unfortunately most of us are aware of the serious problem of drug overdoses involving opiates such as heroin, have caused in our region of the State. Although continued diligent enforcement of drug laws will continue, it is our desire to attempt to serve the public in the most beneficial way we possibly can. This includes having the tools readily available to potentially save the life of someone and allow them to fully recognize their potential as a person in the future.
