Helping Local Food Pantry Goes Online

New website helps stock pantry

All through the year residents from around town look to the Howell Food Pantry to help them put food on the table. Now, thanks to a website helping that organization is easier than ever.

A national group of Podiatrists including locally at has started a website through their own organization. Known as De-Feet Childhood Hunger (DFCH) the group has started a website which take make contributions to the Howell food pantry.

In a press release from DFCH the idea behind the site is to provide "a simple opportunity to donate food to the Howell Food Pantry during the summer months when donations are low and shelves at the Howell Food Pantry become bare."

After going on the website and clicking on the "Support the Drive" button those interested can take part in the drive and the items will be delivered to the pantry. Those who donate will also receive a tax deductible receipt. 

For those looking to make more traditional donations Affiliated Foot and Ankle Care is also working with the which will also serve as a donation center. "They are relying on the generosity of the residents in the Howell community to bring food donations," the release said. 

Items needed include canned fruits and vegetables, cereal, peanut butter and other non-perishable items. They also need paper goods such as toilet paper, paper towels and tissues.
