Busy End to January in Howell

A look at events happening in Howell this week

The Howell Public Schools will have an early dismissal on Wednesday for a staff in-service day but the Howell Board of Education will be working long after the teachers and students head home for the day.

The board is scheduled to hold its last meeting of the month at Middle School North on Wednesday with a loaded agenda. One part of the meeting includes recognizing local students for their participation in the Monmouth County STARS Science Competition as well as recognizing members of the district staff who will be retiring.

Also on Wednesday night the board will look to complete appointments to various committees that will work during the course of the year.

The Zoning Board of Adjustment will wrap up its work for January the night before at the Municipal Building. There are two items on the agenda that should be relatively quiet for the board including an application to build a single family house on a non-conforming lot on Church Road. The second application is to allow an owner to use a location at the intersection of Route 9 and Strickland Road as an auto repair shop and an Avis Car/Truck Rental location.

This weekend the township is scheduled to hold a rabies clinic that had been scheduled for January 25. The clinic will be held at the DPW garage on Old Tavern Road from 9 a.m. until noon.
