Free Breast Screening Part of Busy Week in Howell

A look at events happening in Howell this week.

Howell Municipal offices and the Howell Recycling Center will be closed on Monday for Columbus Day but there is still plenty to do in the township this week particularly on Wednesday.

The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties will be conducting a Mobile Food Pantry event at the old Town Hall on Preventorium Road on Wednesday. Food will be distributed from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. for people living on a fixed income, people who are disabled, out of work or are at low paying jobs according to the township.

Also on Wednesday, polling places will be open across the township in the Special General Election for the US Senate.

The Jacqueline M. Wilentz Breast Center on Kent Road will be hosting a free breast education and screening program from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. The event will include information on the High Risk Cancer Program, refreshments and giveaways. Early registration is suggested.

Rounding out the day on Wednesday is a meeting of the Howell Board of Education. The agenda for the 8 p.m. meeting includes a discussion on having meetings be paperless in the future. The board is also scheduled to vote on the retirement of Middle School South Social Studies Teacher John Szyarto on January 1.
