Lighting Ceremony Returns Wednesday

A look at events happening in Howell this week.

Wednesday looks to be a busy middle of the week here in Howell with an annual tradition and the honoring of a Howell resident highlighting a special week here in the township.

Weather permitting the annual tree and menorah lighting ceremony is scheduled to be held on Wednesday night at the new Municipal Building. The fun is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. and run until 8:30 and will include music, hot drinks and snacks and of course the annual visit from Santa.

There will only be limited parking at the building. Shuttle Busses will be available from the Howell Commons near Dress barn. Participants are asked to bring non-perishable food items and new pajamas for all ages to be given to local charities.

Young flew combat missions during World War II and was presented several medals including the Flying Cross and Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters. He eventually worked his way through the ranks of the Air National Guard.

On Wednesday night Our House Restaurant will be hosting a Holiday Craft and Vendor Shopping event starting at 7:30 p.m. More than 30 vendors are scheduled to attend  and there will also be massages, make-up trials and air brush tanning and more.
