Meetings and Roadwork Highlight Busy Week in Howell

A look at events happening in Howell this week.

The economy may be improving from where it was a few years ago but many people are still struggling and this week a special event is being held at the new Municipal Building to help those people

A Homeowner’s Community event is scheduled to be held on Tuesday morning designed to help people struggling with their mortgages. Topics will include modification programs, how the foreclosure process works, how to avoid potentially damaging scams and what happens after foreclosure.

The event is free and open to the public and is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. until noon in the main meeting room. It is being presented by the Affordable Housing Alliance and the township. To register call 732-389-2958 and ask for Stefanie Wynne.

The night before the special event the Howell Zoning Board of Adjustment will meet in the same room with a light agenda. The only application in front of the board Monday night is from a company called Howell Flex Center LLC. They are applying to use buildings on a property on Lakewood-Farmingdale Road as an indoor baseball training facility.

Getting around parts of the township this week will also be difficult due to road construction projects. Tinton Falls Road is being overhauled including being widened and paved over. The project is expected to take around four months.

The township estimates that on Tuesday Lemon Road will be closed between Casino and West Farms Road. The closure is expected to last until Saturday for all vehicles including emergency personnel. After that the road will still be closed during construction with detours provided but will be open when work is done for the day.
