Celebrate National Popcorn Day With the Girl Scouts

A look at events happening in Howell this weekend.

The Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore have set up an event for this weekend that looks to be a popping good time.

On Sunday the scouts will celebrate National Popcorn Day at the Program Activity Center on Yellowbrook Road starting at 1 p.m. During the event participants will pop, string, craft and candy coat the savory treat. There will also be kettle corn available and popcorn popped right over an open fire. The cost is $9 per child with one adult and $4.50 for an additional adult. All children under the age of 4 are free. For more information call 800-785-2090 ext. 153.

There will be a blood drive on Saturday at the Howell Township First Aid Squad building as well this weekend. The drive is being sponsored by the Howell United Republicans, the first aid squad and the Howell Chamber of Commerce. Donations will help supply the Central Jersey Blood Center.
