Library Dedication Highlights Busy Weekend in Howell

A look at events happening in Howell this weekend.

A local church is getting a headstart on the holiday season this weekend when the Farmingdale 1st United Methodist Church hosts its Annual Candy Cane Bazaar as part of a busy weekend in our area.

The bazaar will include handmade quilts, a silent auction, other handmade items and jewelry as well as baked goods and tables with more items for all your holiday needs. There will also be a light lunch available during the event.

Also on Saturday the Howell Public Library will dedicate the Quiet Study Room in memory of Ellen Deeble who served as the first librarian at the branch. Deeble started working in the branch when it was located in the basement of the old courthouse on Adelphia-Farmingdale Road and helped move it to the new location.

Saturday’s activities also include the John Blewett III Memorial at 2 p.m. at Woody’s Roadside Tavern. The event includes live music and a gift auction and all proceeds from the event will benefit St. Jude’s.

On Sunday morning Open Door Bible Baptist Church on Lakewood Farmingdale Road will host an Open House and Fall Carnival. Along with the morning service there will also be lunch provided and, weather permitting, an outdoor carnival that will include rides, bounce houses, games and more.
