Remember the Swine flu? Avian flu? Avian Flu 2? Nothing ever happened. These are scare tactics byRead More big Pharma to sell more and more drugs. Ask your doctor if your ready for Celestia or whatever is being pushed on TV this week. If I have to ask my doctor if I'm ready for 'X' drug I've got the wrong doctor.

I often wonder why anyone would want to use any of these products. It often seems the cure is worseRead More than the disease. The ones I love are the ones for mental problems. They only work in 1/3 of the patients. 60% is passing in school yet in these 30% is acceptable. But ask your doctor if ''X'' is right for you. What's happened to our society? And, why do they use young people to advertise Viagra? I'm laughing right now but it's not funny.

It says Around Town but the headline is UTAH. Utah is not near Natick!! I think everyone should notRead More open an article on Patch unless they see their town's name in the headline. So If it doesn't say Natick, then we all know it is not LOCAL to the Natick Patch. The less clicks these Patch sites get, the fewer advertisers they will get and then perhaps they will realize if we want sensational news from across the country we'd go back to Patch's former owners AOL and the HuffPost! Those here from other Patch sites - I think you should do the same only click on articles that mention your community's name. No name. No click!

The U.S. tested atomic weapons out west and gave countless people cancer. They gave black menRead More syphilis a while back just to watch the course of the disease. It would be nice to think that the chem trail notion is a joke, but there are some intelligent people out there who are quite convinced there is something to it. Frankly, nothing would surprise me.

Today’s Daily Record has an interview with Suzanne Buchanan, who is executive director ofRead More Autism NJ. It’s an interesting read, but a couple of points. When she is asked about the number of those diagnosed, she answers; “…the CDC’s most recent study identified all children who met the diagnostic criteria. Many of them had a formal diagnosis, and some did not”. Later, she is asked about the diagnostic criteria, and she answers; “Differentiating autism from other disorders, such as ADHD, OCD, and Anxiety Disorder requires a thorough diagnostic evaluation by a physician or psychologist with autism expertise”. So, without a full diagnostic evaluation, autism very well may be misdiagnosed, and she admits earlier than some who fall into the autism statistics never were formally diagnosed to begin with. To me, that means that the numbers are probably much higher than they actually are.
The northbound travel lanes on the Route 1&9 Pulaski Skyway will be closed for approximately 24 months while the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) rehabilitates the bridge deck.
Linda Maloney April 13, 2014 at 10:09 am
It's about time they started to make repairs on the Pulaski Skyway, it's been literally fallingRead More apart for years! I heard there is even some controversy with the Port of Authority paying for much of this renovation. It is an access road to the Holland Tunnel, but The Port of Authority isn't responsible for The Holland Tunnel roadways because The Holland Tunnel was there before The POA. I guess the gov. and his people do whatever they want with his own little slush fund(POA).
Marlboro Mann April 13, 2014 at 08:50 pm
Lets hear it for the NJDOT. They could have started the work on Christmas, Palm Sunday, or AshRead More wednesday, but they chose instead to begin the chaos on the first day of Passover thus ensuring that the large percentage of Jewish workers arrive late at work but most importantly arrive home long after the sedars are to begin. Anti Semitism? NO Piss Poor Planning? Yes!

@ OE Defending him or merely telling you of my experience in attending 2 Town Halls? My ownRead More experience is that although like others here, I disagree on some political points, I found him surprisingly accessible. After one of the events, he actually chatted with THE PEOPLE afterward in the parking lot, and although I'm a nobody, even I was afforded an opportunity to have a brief exchange with him out there, about an issue I was concerned about. This article in no way resembled my own experience at either of the events I've attended. Just sayin....
ER April 10, 2014 at 01:16 am
p.s. One of the reasons he stayed to chat with THE PEOPLE outside the venue, was that theRead More attendance was so beyond what they had expected, many folks did not get into the building and he felt bad they had come to the event and the place wasn't big enough to hold them all.

Benny, No I don't know where everything is. I don't know of the Broadway. That is why I asked. WhereRead More is it? Up by the boardwalk or somewhere else in town. I do know of the train station because I pass it going down 35 on my way to work a few days a week. You are sounding very defensive. I am only in this general area for a few months a year. You can use computers, read news papers or listen to the TV without being in NJ. I don't know much about Martell's or any other bars in the town of point pleasant beach. I go by what I read and have heard on the news. The town has been a hot topic on a few things the past couple of years. They have been in the papers, news and the radio. Bar closing at 12 was the biggest one. No, I don't know if the woman stopped before or after leaving Martells. How would I know that? I wasn't with her. I am going by what was reported by a different police agency. I'll rephrase what I said. I though I read in the paper that she was at Martell's from 11 to 5 or 6 drinking vodka shots and drinks without eating. That is an awful long time. I couldn't tell you how many bar tenders served her. What difference does that make. I wasn't there. All I remember reading is the police did get tapes of the women drinking. I really don't care what happens either way. I am not trying to argue with anyone. I am just stating a fact. There is laws that bars have to go by and if they don't they could be closed down just as Tiffany was and another bar that was also in the paper. As for Ms. Pearl, I only read very little that was reported. It was a few years back. I can't remember everything in the article. It was the star-ledger I think. I remember them saying their was 2 guys in the car at the time of the accident. I was told they were drinking at Frankies by a few. Who knows what is true. It is a shame for all the innocent individuals who keep on getting severely hurt. I will say this. I am not big on suing. But if it came to one of my family member who was serious hurt. I would be suing. Who knows if they will ever go back to normal if ever. It could be years that they will need medical help or their whole life.
Rick Ricky April 4, 2014 at 05:11 pm
Benny, You do know that you don't have to be in NJ to respond to patch articles. You can be out ofRead More the state. NJ and point pleasant beach has been making the news world wide news the last couple of years.
A Resident April 10, 2014 at 10:41 pm
Rick Ricky, let me give you some answers since I actually live in PPB and know more about it thanRead More some news articles written by people who don't live here. The Broadway is a bar located on Broadway and Randall Ave. It is on the south east side of the small bridge on Broadway. Generally a hometown crowd at the place as it's not a "nightclub" atmosphere. The woman that was drinking at Martells was there until late afternoon...and then was in an accident many hours and many miles away. That's why the statement of what she did between Martells and the accident. There was a lot of time and a lot of miles between. Quite possible she was not drunk when she left Martells but did get drunk later elsewhere. The guys that hit Miss Pirl were not at Frankies, but that does not really matter. Going by some newspaper articles written by people not in the area is not a good way to judge a town. No, it's not a perfect place. People run the town and sometimes people make mistakes. There is no mass exodus of residents.

During training, editor trainees including myself were told Patch was going to focus onRead More "hyperlocal NEWS." Art, if a actual quanatative/qualitative reseach was done on public sector spending vs. productivityRead More and was presented to the public without bias, it would blow your mind. Its all political numbers game rather than actual want vs. need. Things need to be adjusting according to the times. You say cost vs. benefits. I say yea your gonna a few hundred people out of work but put millions back in the tax payers pockets. Yes public jobs are neccessary, but not cause you want it as a luxary but because its strategically caculated by research. So the questions present, are expensive firefightershere for saving lives or for showin up in minutes for services, such as lock outs. are teaching adminastrators neccassary for individual towns or can it be handled by the county. Can cops be utilized in other fields, like ems, many other services that fire depts. handle. Answer is, there needsresearch done to be a standard based on demographics.

How much is it going to take to get people to realize our climate IS changing? It doesn't happenRead More overnight, and I will keep repeating that. There will be violent swings back and forth as well as increased severity and frequency of storms. Do all of you doubters think that, especially since the Industrial Revolution, we could keep spouting all this garbage up into the atmosphere and nothing was going to happen? Oh, yea, the junk just disappeared or was somehow reabsorbed. Get your heads out of the sand.
Tom Bartman March 18, 2014 at 05:21 pm
Sharon - Nobody will tell you the climate is not changing. Worry when the climate does not change,Read More not when it does. The problem is the alarmists lack the proper mindset to have a discussion about this. Since you mention the Industrial Revolution, I assume you are well versed in history. Go back and take a look at the extremes from the Cretaceous period to the Permian period. Were humans around then? Explain the unprecedented heat in the 1930's. Look, we only now have 30 years of satellite data on a planet that is over 4 billion years old. The issue has become political. I am about using the scientific method to prove a hypothesis, no politics. Rather than people name-calling and telling people to get your head out of the sand, I challenge you to go back and look at history. Step away from CNN, Fox, ALL OF THEM and do you own analysis. You'd be surprised to find how there are two sides to this.
dwayne roberson March 18, 2014 at 06:29 pm
The medieval warming period was a good thing if you were alive at the time. Truth is the planet hasRead More always been cycling long before the internal combustion engine. Weather is the ultimate dynamic, solar, winds, clouds, pressure zones ,temperature distribution, moisture content, lunar phases, sun spots! local topography and massive moving oceans. Weather is not ruled by alarmist computer models that are easily manipulated. We have not seen global warming in 16 years. I'm not sure what climate change represents beyond a lust for a carbon tax. Climate change? We always have and will continue to have it.

Kathy, where exactly does this; “smacking their children” comment come from??? TheRead More court doc (linked above) says nothing about Rachel getting hit, and it specifically states that the DCPP investigated and concluded that there was no abuse in the household. As far as the boyfriend goes… why is it that whenever a girl (or woman) goes bad, it is just assumed that the guy in her life is to blame??? Read the complaint; Rachel obviously had issue long before she hooked up with the most recent boyfriend. Young woman will learn nothing if we blame their boyfriends for their actions, rather than teaching them to accept their own responsibility.

Rick ricky you MUST be a teacher. Yes...the kids need a minimum of 180 days of school. Half a yearRead More of education ids not too much to ask. Poor teachers and kids don't get breaks....NO ONE ELSE IN THE WORKING WORLD gets breaks. Somehow they all make it. The reason kids stop doing school work is because teachers start popping in movies in June and having end of the year parties. I work in a school. I see the culture. Heck, this past week was the 100th day so every class had 100th day crowns and parties and made posters about being more than half way done. Think about what that teaches the kids. Yey...we are more than half way done...as if making it 100 days through the torture of learning is a huge accomplishment.
