Local team on three game roll
After winning the last three of a four game set at the Greensboro Grasshoppers the Lakewood BlueClaws will be looking to build on their success when they return home to First Energy Park for a seven game home stand. The Delmarva Shore Birds will be their first guests for a three game series with tonight's first pitch set for 6:35 p.m. The first 2000 fans through the gates will get a BlueClaws All-Star poster and it is also one of five Scout Nights at the ballpark. As with every Monday home game it is also a kids eat free night at the park. If the seats at the stadium are too hard for you, the first 2000 fans at Tuesday's game will get seat cushions. Team to help Sandy victims throughout the year
As our area continues to rebuild from the affects of Hurricane Sandy the Lakewood BlueClaws will be back in town and back in action for another year of South Atlantic League baseball this week. As part of the festivities the team will continue to work to support people who were affected by the storm. The future Philadelphia Phillies will celebrate Opening Day on Thursday when the Kannapolis Intimidators come to town for a four game series. BlueClaws players will wear special Restore The Shore jerseys during the opening weekend. The jerseys will have the names of towns that were impacted by the powerful storm. During the weekend a silent auction will be held for the jerseys with the money benefitting the BlueClaws Charities relief efforts…

Brick Resident has served with team in many roles
The Lakewood BlueClaws wasted no time naming a new General Manager with opening day just around the corner and did not have to look far to find a new leader. Brandon Marano, who most recently served as the team's Assistant General Manager of Operations, was named the new GM this week according to a story posted on the team's website. Marano has spent more than a decade with the BlueClaws and succeeds Geoff Brown, the team's original general manager who recently left for a job with the Rutgers University athletic department. The BlueClaws will have another busy year at FirstEnergy Park including hosting the South Atlantic League All Star Game for the second time in the team's history.

Team announces new deal with big league club
The 2012 season has been a year of highlights for the Lakewood BlueClaws. From having hard hitting slugger Ryan Howard do a rehab assignment for the Philadelphia Phillies to announcing they will hold next years South Atlantic League All Star Game it has been a year of big news for the squad. On Thursday night the Claws announced they had signed a two-year extension of their Player Development Contract with the Phillies that will keep the Major League affiliation through at least the 2014 season. It was a video announcement by Howard himself that told fans at Thursday's game of the new agreement. Phillies All-Star went 2 for 4 with three RBIs
Ryan Howard returned to the diamond Thursday night, going 2 for 4 in five plate appearances with the Lakewood BlueClaws and helping to drive in three runs. Howard and the BlueClaws took on the West Virginia Power in front of a sold-out, 8,000-person crowd at FirstEnergy Park in Howard's first game back since tearing his Achilles tendon last season. “It felt good. The running portion was the biggest thing, it felt good,” Howard said. Howard batted fouth and served as the designated hitter for the BlueClaws Thursday night. In his first at-bat, he grounded out to the shortstop. In his next two plate appearances, Howard hit the ball to the same general area. Team will host a two-day event in 2013
It was a big day in Seaside Heights on Wednesday when the Lakewood BlueClaws announced they will host the 2013 South Atlantic League All Star Game. BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown invited mascot Buster and the always popular running Eyeballs out to help unveil the big announcement of the June 18, 2013 date. “We are proud to announce that in 2013, once again the BlueClaws, Lakewood Township and all of the shore will be host to the South Atlantic League All-Star Game,” Brown said. Big games and fun promotions on the schedule
After an up and down road trip that included stops at Greensboro and Hagerstown the Lakewood BlueClaws will be heading back home on Tuesday for the start of a seven game home stand. The action kicks off with four games against the Asheville Tourists before three games against the Greenville Drive to wrap up the month. Tuesday's 6:35 game will be a Senior Day Tuesday where all seniors eat free and the first 2000 fans will receive magnetic schedules so they know every time the team comes to FirstEngergy Park. The magnets will also be given to the first 2000 fans on Wednesday and Thursday. Local minor league squad kicks off season at home Thursday
It must be summer on the Jersey Shore as the Lakewood BlueClaws, the South Atlantic League Affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, kick off another season at FirstEngergy Park this week. When they do return to Lakewood the team figures to have plenty of exciting potential stars on the roster right off the bat. That includes eight players who have been picked in the first 10 rounds of recent MLB drafts. There also are four of the best players among Baseball America's top 30 Phillies prospects. Leading that group figures to be Maikel Franco, the number 10 prospect according to Baseball America. Weather permitting, minor league baseball should be in full swing for the next nine days
The Lakewood BlueClaws, the Single 'A' Affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, are scheduled to kick off a nine-game homestand tonight when they take on the Charleston Riverdogs at 6:35 p.m. After being away since April 15, returning to FirstEnergy Park should be just what the team needs having gone 3-6 on the road. This current swing home features not only the Riverdogs, the Yankee prospects in the league, but also the Savannah Sand Gnats, which is the South Atlantic League (SAL) affiliate of the New York Mets.
