William J. “Bill” Kearns, Sr., 63, of Freehold Township died at home on Sunday, Feb. 10. Kearns was born in Red Bank and had lived in Marlboro and Howell before moving to Freehold Township in 2009. He was the Vice President of Facilities for Silver Line Building Products, now Anderson Windows in North Brunswick. Kearns was a 1972 graduate of the Newark College of Engineering (NJIT) where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Kearns was a family oriented man, enjoying golf on Sunday morning with his sons and quiet time with his grandchildren. Kearns was predeceased by his mother, Jacqueline Kearns. Herbert Daniel Golom, 86, of Howell Township died on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at home. Golom was born in New York and later moved to Freehold. He was a graduate of Freehold High School and enlisted in the US Army/Air Corps in Aug. 18, 1943. After being discharged, Golom joined his father, Joseph Golom and his brother, David Golom in their plumbing and heating business. Golom was a construction official for Toms River for many years and was a member of the American Legion Post #178 in Howell and Farmingdale. He was also a member of the Adelphia Fire Company for 59 years. Herbert was also a faithful member of the Elks for many years. His enjoyment was bowling, fishing, hunting, skiing and golfing. Joseph Piazza, 80, of Freehold, died on Saturday, Nov. 3, at Wedgwood Gardens, Freehold Township. Piazza was born in Brooklyn, NY and had lived in Staten Island, NY before moving to Howell Township eight years ago. Piazza was a vice president at Bank of America in New York City and was a US veteran serving during Korea. Piazza is survived by his wife, Esther Piazza; two sons, Michael Piazza of Mount Pocono, PA and Anthony Piazza of Freehold Township; one daughter, Charlotte Ann McCue of Freehold Township; eight grandchildren; and two sisters, Nancy Torreggiana of Brooklyn, NY and Marie Crocitto of Massapequa, LI, NY. Lois E. Barrett, 85, of Freehold Township died on Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Wedgewood Gardens, Freehold Twp. Barrett, was born and raised in Caney, Kansas and had lived in New Rochelle, NY, Hazlet, and Howell before settling to Freehold Twp. in 2002. Barrett received her Bachelor’s degree from Newark Teachers College. Barrett, was the director and head teacher at Creative Campus Nursery School for eight years prior to opening up Maple Place Preschool in 1970. She was the owner of Maple Place Preschool, Keyport for over thirty-years retiring in 1997. Barrett, was a past president and member of the NJ Association for the Education of Young Children.
