Monmouth County merchants are encouraged to join a teleconference call today to discuss support services and available opportunities as they recover from Hurricane Sandy. Call 559-726-1300 and input access code 147878 to take part in the 4 p.m. hour-long Business Rebuilding Call sponsored by Monmouth's Division of Economic Development. County officials promise information will be provided about state and federal disaster relief programs, tax impact and more. Business owners are reminded that they can apply for assistance by visiting disasterassistance.gov, calling 800-621-3362 (800-462-7585 for those with speech or hearing disablities) or using a smartphone at m.fema.gov. Disaster Centers Available for Hurricane Recovery Aid

Monmouth residents can visit facility in Leonardo; center opening Tuesday in Brick

Monmouth and Ocean county residents in need of governmental assistance as they recover from Hurricane Irene will be able to get face-to-face help starting this week. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) opened a Disaster Recovery Center this weekend in the Leonardo section of Middletown for Monmouth County residents and will open a center in Brick for Ocean residents Tuesday. Field specialists will be on hand to assist residents and business owners who wonder if they qualify for federal funds after sustaining damage during the hurricane.
