Local department taking part in nationwide program
For the past few weeks the Howell Police Department has been taking part in the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over," program, which Sgt. Joseph Markulic said is an effort to crack down on drinking and driving. Extra patrols to be on the streets today
This Independence Day the Howell Police Department will have extra patrols on the street to help ensure people enjoy their holiday as safely as possible. As part of the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over," program Sgt. Joseph Markulic said the department will be on the lookout for impaired motorists who are putting other drivers at risk. "The Fourth of July is one of the deadliest holidays due to an increase in impaired-driving fatalities," he said. "Too many people die behind the wheel each year due to those who choose to drive after drinking, so our officers will be out in full force this Fourth of July showing zero tolerance for impaired drivers," he added.
