Driver suffers seizure, inadvertently causes car accident and gas station fire
A two car-accident and related gas station fire at the intersection of Route 9 and Aldrich Road snarled traffic in the area early this afternoon, according to the Howell Police Department. Howell Police, Southard Fire Department and Howell Police EMS all responded to the scene of a gas pump in flames at the Gulf Station at around 1 p.m. today, which emergency communications indicated was the result of a motor vehicle collision. “At 12:57 p.m., Tracy Stanton, 33, of Tinton Falls, operating a 2012 Chevrolet Impala, was in the Aldrich Plaza when she suffered an apparent seizure. Others have had no power at all for 10 days
Gov. Christie told a gathering on Long Beach Island on Wednesday that the coming Nor'easter and anticipated snowfall would likely cause "a setback" in the work underway for full power restoration. Boy, he wasn't kidding. JCP&L, on its website, is acknowledging that the nor'easter has created new outages, often for customers who were hit with outages in the height of Sandy's destructive path, had power restored and are now in the cold darkness yet again. "Late Wednesday, heavy, wet snow and high winds from the nor'easter resulted in approximately 120,000 additional power outages in the Jersey Central Power & Light service territory," says the JCP&L website. Editor's Note: The following is a news release issued by the New Jersey Department of Transportation. NJDOT Commissioner James Simpson announced on Wednesday night that westbound traffic on a heavily traveled Interstate 195 overpass over the New Jersey Turnpike in Mercer County will be restricted to one lane for up to six weeks. The normal complement of two eastbound travel lanes across the overpass will be maintained. The overpass sustained damage earlier today when a truck crashed and became engulfed in flames beneath the overpass. To ensure the safety of motorists, NJDOT will prohibit travel on one of the two westbound lanes provided by the overpass. Howell P.D. say equipment fire quickly extinguished
An equipment fire in the township that had broken out this afternoon was quickly contained, authorities said. Emergency communications indicated that a fire on Howell Court had broken out just after 2:30 p.m. Specifically, at the center of the fire was construction machinery and equipment. Howell Police said that the fire was extinguished quickly, but that the cause of the blaze was currently under investigation. Fire authorities at the scene did request assistance from the fire department in nearby Herbertsville. Patch will have an update on this story when more information is available.
