Updated: Three Officers Shot at Gloucester Township Police Station

Gunfire erupted early this morning at police headquarters. Three officers were shot, and a gunman was killed.

SOUTH JERSEY -- Update, 9:30 a.m. 12/27/12: The injuries to the three officers shot early Friday morning at Gloucester Township police headquarters are not life-threatening, a spokesman for the Camden County Prosecutor's Office said.  "They are going to be OK," said Capt. Mark Nicholas of the prosecutor's office.  Nicholas confirmed that three officers were injured and the shooter was killed during the incident, which happened around 5:45 a.m. at the municipal complex on Chews Landing Road.  Reports indicate a police sergeant was shot twice, and that he was rushed to the Trauma Center at Cooper University Hospital in Camden. First and foremost, my prayers go out to the injured officers and their families, however the scenerio went down! Two of them followed protocol and, as police do, put their lives on the line to protect the innocent, thank you and get well!!! There should be height requirement, a weight requirement, and a mandatory work out regimen weekly that must be followed in order to maintain their badge. It …   more ›
