Rible Special Education Bill Signed By Christie

Sets up new task force to study how special education money is spent

A bill which is aimed at streamlining special education programs in New Jersey’s public schools was signed by Governor Chris Christie this week.  The bill, A1365, creates the Task Force on Improving Special Education for Public School Students, comprised of 16 gubernatorial appointments and the state Education Commissioner. The 16 would include parents, teachers, administrators and advocates involved in the special education community, according to the bill. The panel would be charged with studying issues such as the methods of classifying special needs students strategies to reduce costs of out-of-district placements and program standards to ensure programs meets students’ needs and focus on achievement. Farmingdale Turns to Governor's Office Following Resignations

Council members resign in neighboring town

A planned meeting of the Farmingdale Borough Council was cancelled last night following the resignations of several of the members. According to a report in the Tri-Town News several members of the council resigned earlier this summer with more members submitting their resignation prior to Tuesday's meeting. The report said the borough clerk and code enforcement officer had also recently resigned. In an effort to find a resolution to the situation, the borough has reached out to Gov. One wonders if there is a hidden agenda behind the mass resignation. Possibly to discredit the mayor as a precursor to an ex-council member, mayor-want-a-be? Time will tell. We do know that the resignations were thoughtless with regard to the image and function of the borough. No advance notice. No smooth transition.
