"Popping Sounds" reported during student drop off
Parents dropping their children off at Griebling School on Wednesday morning reported hearing "popping sounds," in the area as they arrived at the school. In an email to parents Principal Nancy Rupp said the sounds were later determined to be coming from hunters in the fields behind the elementary school. Rupp said the Howell Police Department was called and investigated the situation. During the investigation Rupp said students being dropped off by their parents or on busses were "held on the vehicles until we were cleared to have them depart and enter the school." The principal said in the email that, "For the most part students were unaware except for the fact that they were asked to remain on their busses for a little longer than usual…

Students helped collect money for four-legged friends
Students at Griebling School and across the Howell Public Schools started their summer vacation a day early but it did not stop them from ending their year by helping others in need. Marie Lapetins said the school split into two camps, the cats and the dogs. The feline group represented students in Kindergarten, third and fourth grade while the K-9s were the first, second and fifth graders. The students would then bring in change and put it into collection boxes in their classrooms…

Music video, pep rally help students relax
One of the most stressful times of the year for students at Griebling School is when the NJ ASK tests roll around. This year three of the teachers in the building found a creative way to help their students not only prepare for the tests but also relax leading up to the big day. Jill Bohm, one of the Academic Support instructors said the music video they came up with was the culmination of their test preparation efforts. "It's these practices and working your brain just like any sport you would play or dance or gymnastics," she said. "You have to practice and practice and practice to get better at it. Bohm said the final days leading up to the exam were like the "Super Bowl," for the students. Her colleague Jeff Smith said that while …
