Board will hold meeting at new building
The new Municipal Building will be the site of the second meeting of April for the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders. Set for April 25 at 7 p.m. the meeting will be the first by the county body in Howell since the township relocated from Preventorium Road to Route 9. It is one of a series of meetings the Freeholders will hold away from their regular Freehold location. Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone said he was glad the board was meeting in new locations. "The Board of Chosen Freeholders takes its meetings on the road to make county government more accessible to the people it serves," he said. "It encourages participation by many more residents." Two major application cancel on abbreviated panel meeting
It was the Planning Board meeting that nearly wasn’t on Monday as two of the three applications scheduled for hearings took a pass. The big one, put forth by a company calling itself ASP Wall LLC, proposed an 80,000-square-foot warehouse building and six 15,000-square-foot buildings — a total of 170,000 square feet of buildings — along with associated parking, drainage and utility facilities on a tract at Belmar Boulevard and Birdsall Road. Work was done at Town Hall and Municipal Building this week
At a time when the township's Department of Public Works is busy with many projects including the town's new municipal building the Monmouth County Sheriff's Department provided a few extra hands this week. On Wednesday that included working at the new municipal building before clearing the grounds around the monuments and memorials at the old Town Hall on Thursday. Sheriff Shaun Golden, a township resident, said the Inmate Labor Program is meant to provide assistance to towns throughout the county without costing the taxpayers any additional money.
