Charleston and Lexington coming to Lakewood.
A road trip that started with two wins at Greenville took a turn for the worst for the Lakewood BlueClaws as the Asheville Tourists and mother nature made for a messy swing through the southern half of the South Atlantic League. After Greenville won the last game of a three game set 12-1 Asheville won the first game of their series in a 14-10 thriller. A rain storm then rolled through the area canceling not only Saturday's game but a double dip on Sunday. The teams played a doubleheader on Monday with Asheville winning both games before the team returns home for seven games against Charleston and Lexington. First pitch on Wednesday is scheduled for 6:35 against the RiverDogs. It will also be a Kentucky Derby Preview Night and a chance to…

Brick Resident has served with team in many roles
The Lakewood BlueClaws wasted no time naming a new General Manager with opening day just around the corner and did not have to look far to find a new leader. Brandon Marano, who most recently served as the team's Assistant General Manager of Operations, was named the new GM this week according to a story posted on the team's website. Marano has spent more than a decade with the BlueClaws and succeeds Geoff Brown, the team's original general manager who recently left for a job with the Rutgers University athletic department. The BlueClaws will have another busy year at FirstEnergy Park including hosting the South Atlantic League All Star Game for the second time in the team's history.

Manasquan resident worked with team since its founding
For the first time since the team was founded in 1999 the Lakewood BlueClaws will have a new general manager when the season starts in April. Geoff Brown, a resident of Manasquan, who was the first employee hired by the team, recently announced that he is leaving the Lakewood team to become senior associate athletic director/chief marketing officer for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. In a story on Minor League Baseball's website, Brown said making the move was not an easy decision. "This is a bittersweet day for me," said Brown. "For 13 years, this has been my home and my second family. Leaving Lakewood and the BlueClaws was certainly a difficult decision, but the opportunity to work for Tim Pernetti [Rutgers Director of Intercollegiate …

Final four games start tonight
With the Lakewood BlueClaws all but out of the South Atlantic League playoff picture, the local team will come home tonight for a quick four game series before heading home for the winter. The team will welcome the Greensboro Grasshoppers to town for the game and will bring plenty of excitement to the fans as the season winds down. The last Friday night game of the season means at least one more fireworks display for the fans to enjoy. Tomorrow night, the first 2,000 fans at the ballpark will bring home a Mickey Morandini bobblehead doll as the team marks the end of his first season at the helm of the Claws. Following that game, the team will play a rare Sunday night game at 7:05 and will have another fireworks show before the season …
