UPDATE: Driver Critical Following Wednesday Crash

Howell resident taken to hospital with "severe trauma"

UPDATE: THURSDAY 4:20p.m.- Howell resident Brooke Papiomitis was listed in critical condition following a crash on Route 33 Wednesday Morning. Detective Sgt. Eileen Dodd said 19-year-old Papiomitis was reportedly in a coma and suffering from "serious head injuries" as of Thursday afternoon. Original Story: A portion of Route 33 was closed for several hours on Wednesday morning after an accident sent a 19-year-old Howell resident to the hospital. Detective Sgt. Eileen Dodd reported that at around 2:30 this morning Brooke Papiomitis was driving a 2001 Ford Escort on Route 33 near Holy Boulevard when for a "unknown reason," she crossed into the westbound lanes. Howell Resident Seriously Injured in Tuesday Night Crash

Listed in stable condition

A Howell resident was listed in stable but critical condition at Jersey Shore University Medical Center following a crash at the intersection of Ford Road and Kent Road.  According to Sgt. Joseph Markulic 25-year-old Nicholas Szydlowski was driving a 1997 Honda Accord eastbound on Ford Road when he ran a stop sign at the intersection. At that time he hit the passenger door of 24-year-old Jackson resident Daniel Jacobsen who was driving north on Kent Road.  As a result of the crash 24-year-old Howell resident Eugene Szydlowski, a passenger in his brother's Honda suffered critical injuries and was taken to the hospital. Woman Stabbed Multiple Times in Middletown Bed Bath & Beyond

Update, 11 p.m.: Middletown Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Bed Bath & Beyond Stabbing --- A woman suffered significant blood loss after she was allegedly stabbed more than a dozen times in the back and other parts of her body by a man at Bed Bath & Beyond around 4 p.m. today. The woman's identity was not released, but she was said to be in her 30s and shopping inside the store with her small child when she was attacked. Middletown Township First Aid and MONOC medics transported the woman to Thorne Middle School, where she was taken by Northstar medevac to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, according to Assistant Middletown First Aid spokesperson Beth Edwards. It was reported that the patient was conscious and alert. Mariners Cove Fire Leaves One Critically Injured

No word yet on cause of fire

Early this morning several local fire companies were dispatched to a fire on Mariners Cove where one person was rescued from the burning building.  Lt. Tom Connors of the Howell Police Department reported that a little after 6:50 Friday morning the Adelphia Fire Company responded to a call of a fire at 31 Mariners Cove where 62-year-old Jose Soto was found still inside the house. Suffering what Connors called "fairly significant burns," Soto was removed from the house and taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition.  Connors said the fire was contained to the one house and there were no other reported injuries.  In addition to the Adelphia company mutual aid was provided by the Southard and …

Lakewood Resident Injured in Tuesday Night Crash

Taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center

The Howell Police Department responded to the scene of a one car crash on Tuesday night when a Lakewood resident drove off Old Tavern Road and struck a tree.  Sgt. Joseph Markulic said 39-year-old Hector Rodriguez was driving east in a 1994 van when he drove off the road a the "S" curve and struck a tree on the passenger side of his car. From there he hit another tree head on trapping himself in the van.  Markulic said Rodriguez was extricated by members of the Squankum Fire Department and taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by the Ramtown First Aid Squad and paramedics from MONOC. As of Tuesday night Rodriguez was listed in critical but stable condition. The investigation is ongoing and summonses against Rodriguez are still …

UPDATE: Police Identify Man Killed in Route 547 Crash in Howell

Motorcycle was hit by large SUV

The Howell Police Department announced on Monday night that 41-year-old Point Pleasant resident Scott Incalcatera was the man killed on Saturday when his motorcycle was struck near the intersection of Route 547 and Miller Road.  According to Sgt. Joseph Markulic of the Howell Police Department Isidor S. Palmeri, 35, of Jackson was attempting to to make a left from the northbound lane in his 2013 GMC Yukon when he struck the Incalcatera who was traveling south.  Markulic said Incalcatera, who was not originally identified pending family notification, attempted to stop and put the motorcycle on its side before being hit by the truck. The motorcycle was identified as a 2002 Suzuki GSXR 750. Incalcatera was pronounced dead at the scene. …

MONOC To Train Joint Base Personnel

Wall-based emergency services company gets contract at McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst

The Monmouth Ocean Hospital Service Corp., or MONOC, has been awarded a year-long contract to provide emergency training at nearby Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, MONOC officials said. MONOC, headquartered on Megill Road in Wall, will be providing Emergency Medical Technician training and refresher courses to fire and emergency personnel at the joint base, according to a MONOC release. Some of the subjects covered will include: trauma, medical emergencies, respiratory emergencies, pre-hospital care of stroke, seizures, and the use of epinephrine auto-injectors for severe allergic reactions, the release says. Late Night Crash Sends Two to Hospital

Lakewood resident struck two trees in accident

A Monoc helicopter brought one patient to Jersey Shore University Medical Center on Saturday night while a second patient was brought by ground following a one car accident on Alexander Ave.  According to Ptl. Scott Brooks of the Howell Township Police Department Josel Luis Ocotl Mones, 35, of Lakewood was driving his 2002 Ford F150 a little before 10:30 at night when he "failed to properly negotiate a bend in the road to the left. As a result he went of the road and struck two trees.  Brooks said Mones was found unconscious at the scene where he was treated by the Howell First Aid Squad and Monoc paramedics before being flown to the Neptune hospital with head and chest injuries.
