Lakewood police arrested the suspect driver who hit and critically injured a Chaveirim member and then fled the scene, according to the Chaveirim of Lakewood.
The Lakewood Police Department arrested the suspected driver who hit and critically injured a Chaveirim member, Moshe Guttmann, and then fled the scene, according to a statement released by the Chaveirim of Lakewood. A family member of the victim who did not give up searching for the vehicle spotted the possible match to the Chevy Astro van parked in the rear of an East 5th Street home, according to the statement. The family member questioned someone outside the residence regarding the damage to the vehicle, and was told it was involved in an accident last week. Police were handing out fliers to motorists on Somerset Avenue in Lakewood this past week as police continue the search for the hit-and-run driver which left a Chaveirim member severely injured on that road. On Friday, flanked by the police chief, Lakewood Officials, the traffic and safety Officer and PBA president and members, Chaveirim announced the reward of $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of the driver who left one of their own severely injured Saturday night, according to The Lakewood Scoop. A child was seriously injured Saturday evening after being bitten by a dog, as first reported on News Alerts, according to The Lakewood Scoop. A 46-year-old Lakewood woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to second degree manslaughter in connection with the death of her 67-year-old mother. Lisa Foster made the plea before Judge Wendel E. Daniels, saying she was responsible for the death of her mother, Claudette, a resident of the Original Leisure Village in Lakewood. Lisa Foster faces a potential jail term of up to 10 years. The actual term imposed in this case will be determined by Daniels when he imposes sentence on Feb 28, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office. The investigation began on March 1, 2012 when the Lakewood Township Police Department received a call from a third party reporting that a woman might be dead in the Foster home, according to the prosecutor's office. …
