Howell Files Response to Employees' Harassment Lawsuit

Administration files response denying allegations

The township of Howell has responded to a lawsuit filed by four current and former employees claiming discrimination and a hostile work environment and denied the allegations. The original complaint filed in Monmouth County Superior Court was submitted by Angela Martino, Donna Ennas and Donna Balton and Lucy Ravally was added later. In the lawsuit, the women accused Howell Township Court Administrator Dominick Pondaco of referring to them as "idiots," "monkeys" and a slur word for female anatomy. According to the complaint, the plaintiffs claimed Pondaco engaged in a pattern of "mentally abusive, sexually abusive, sexually harassing and offensive behavior." Man Charged with Attempted Murder of NYPD Officer Posted Bail, Released

Robert Dunbar was released from Monmouth County Correctional Institute on Aug. 20.

Robert Dunbar, a Manalapan man accused of shooting an off-duty New York city police officer last month, posted bail on Aug. 20 and was released from Monmouth County Correctional Institute. Dunbar allegedly shot the officer after finding him in his Taylors Mills Road home with his estranged wife on Aug. 10. According to court documents, Dunbar obtained the gun from the police officer and shot three rounds, striking the man once in the back. Dunbar initially evaded police after the shooting, but surrendered to authorities the next day. He was arrested and placed in Monmouth County Correctional Institute on $500,000 bail with no 10 percent chase bond. Wife might have kicked him out but it was STILL his house.Years ago woman did not bring men in their homes to sleep with while still married.If a woman did that she lost the rights to her children.Maybe they fought over the gun and it was in self defense,maybe he was threatened.Just because the man cheating on his wife with someone elses (still)wife was a cop does not mean he was in the right.…   more ›

Inspector Faces Bribery Charges

Man allegedly accepted bribe while working for soil conservation district

A man from the Manasquan Park section of Wall Township is facing charges in Monmouth County Superior Court after he allegedly accepted a bribe from an undercover officer while working in an official capacity for the Freehold Soil Conservation District. John Tonon, 51, of Lakewood Road, is charged in relation to an Oct. 26 incident in Hazlet in which authorities say he accepted $700 from an undercover officer of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, to influence his work as a soil conservationist and inspector. According to a release from the Prosecutor's Office, the bribe was intended to expedite the permitting process for a recently built home. It would be foolish to believe that this "undercover" officer just happened to be there to become a foil in a bribe situation. There had to be complaints, reports, tips, etc. about this man's "Official Conduct" before he was caught.
