Drugs and weapons charges were issued by authorities following two searches last week
Toms River and Howell residents were among the 11 charged with drug offenses following Ocean County Special Operations-led searches of Lakewood residences last week. The searches, conducted in two homes and two vehicles in conjunction with authorities in Lakewood and Brick, led to the discovery of drugs, packaging and distribution supplies, and semi-automatic handguns, according to Capt. Jack Sramaty of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Special Operations Group. On Feb. 5, county and Lakewood detectives searched a Coventry Drive residence and seized over one-half ounce of cocaine, an undisclosed amount of marijuana, $1185 in cash, and materials associated with packaging and distributing drugs, Sramaty said. Ocean County Fire Marshall investigating
Two people living in Lakewood's Tent City suffered minor injuries following a fire at the homeless camp off Cedar Bridge Avenue in Lakewood, Lakewood Township police said. The fire occurred at approximately 12:15 a.m. on Sunday. The two residents of the camp that were injured were transported to Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood. The Ocean County Fire Marshall is investigating the incident, police said. The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office has been notified, police said. Police provided no further information.

Early morning blaze results in death of Lakewood resident
According to the Ocean County’s Prosecutor’s Office, a fire which occurred early Sunday morning has claimed the life of a male Lakewood resident. Ocean County Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford issued a statement concerning the fire. “At approximately 12:45 a.m. this morning, Lakewood Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to a residence on Lanes Mill Road in Lakewood. Upon arrival, emergency personnel observed a residential structure on fire with numerous residents outside,” said Ford. Ford explained that residents at the scene advised authorities that an adult male was still inside the home. Autopsy next step to identify victim, prosecutor's office says
A body was discovered near the O Street beach in Seaside Park this afternoon, close to where an 18-year-old man disappeared in the surf Wednesday afternoon, Executive Assistant Prosecutor Michel Paulhus said. "They did recover a body," he said. "They are going to schedule an autopsy to make a positive identification. It was found in the general area where the swimmer was reported missing." Three Ocean County residents were arrested Tuesday and charged with drug offenses after a month-long investigation conducted by local, county and state law enforcement. Calvin Presley, aka "I-Rule," 41, of Jackson, Shilyre Collins, 37, of Jackson, and Darlene Ott, 43, of Bayville were arrested in the early morning Tuesday after police executed search warrants on numerous locations in Lakewood, Jackson and Howell. Authorities confiscated crack and powder cocaine, $1,800 in cash and drug paraphernalia, Ocean County Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford said in a release. Authorities believe argument turned physical
A 45-year-old Lakewood resident has been charged with killing her mother, Ocean County Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford said Friday. Lisa Marie Foster is alleged to have killed her mother Claudette Foster, 67, in the home they shared in the original Leisure Village development. Prosecutors say the killing may have resulted from an argument that occurred up to a week before the discovery of Claudette Foster's body Thursday. Ford said in a prepared statement that police were called by a third party to the house on Chatham Court just after 11 a.m. Thursday. Upon arrival, they found Claudette Foster dead in her home. Four suspects charged
Four men from around the state - including Lakewoood - have been arrested and charged in connection with a murder for hire plot, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office announced Wednesday. Joaquin Gutierrez, 38, was solicited by Jesus Lerin-Diaz, 38, of Lakewood, to conduct surveillance on a potential murder target, Ocean County Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford said in a release. Also named as part of the plot were Erich Williams and Joseph Crotta, of North Brunswick, according to the release.
