17-year-old driver cited
An accident at the intersection of Manassa Road and Old Tavern Road resulted in two people being sent to local hospitals and a young driver being cited for making an improper turn. According Detective Sgt. Eileen Dodd A 17-year-old driver attempted to make a left turn at the intersection which resulted in a crash with 56-year-old Howell resident Choon Y Yim. Also in the car with the teenager was 18-year-old Nick Carrelli who reported a minor head and neck injury. He was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by the Ramtown First Aid Squad. Farmingdale resident injured
A crash on Yellowbrook Road on Saturday night sent a Farmingdale resident to a local hospital and resulted in a Howell resident facing a variety of charges. Sgt. Mike Martin reported that at around 7:45 p.m. 40-year-old Wilbur Briggs was driving a 1999 Dodge Durango north on Yellowbrook Road when he crossed into the other lane of traffic. At that time he struck a 2002 Dodge Durango being driven by 44-year-old Richard Hernandez of Farmingdale. Following the crash witnesses reported seeing Briggs run to his house near the scene of the accident. Cigarette believed responsible
The Moon Motel on Route 9 is now closed after a fire early Saturday morning that forced all residents to be moved to another location. Detective Sgt. Eileen Dodd said the fire was reported at 4:42 Saturday morning and the building was evacuated as soon as crews arrived on the scene. Dodd said the fire is believed to have centered around the room of 41-year-old Erik Kelly, who she said had been living at the hotel for "several months." Kelly told responding officers he had been smoking a cigarette when he took his child to the bathroom. When they came back he said the bed was on fire before the flames spread to the ceiling area. Blaze took several hours to put out
Firefighters from around Howell worked with assistance from Jackson and Freehold to fight a fire that claimed the lives of several animals on Kent Road Friday night. The Howell Police Department received a report of the fire from a passing motorist and that the house was "heavily engulfed in flames," when they arrived. After "several hours," of battling the fire it was determined that the homeowner was not home at the time but that "several cats and a dog are believed to have died as a result of the fire." The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Howell Police Department and the Howell Fire Bureau. The house "was a complete loss as a result of the fire," the police department reported. Taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center
The Howell Police Department responded to the scene of a one car crash on Tuesday night when a Lakewood resident drove off Old Tavern Road and struck a tree. Sgt. Joseph Markulic said 39-year-old Hector Rodriguez was driving east in a 1994 van when he drove off the road a the "S" curve and struck a tree on the passenger side of his car. From there he hit another tree head on trapping himself in the van. Markulic said Rodriguez was extricated by members of the Squankum Fire Department and taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by the Ramtown First Aid Squad and paramedics from MONOC. Frosted windshield a factor in accident
Two people were taken to area hospitals following a crash Friday morning near the intersection of Route 524A and Daybreak Court. Detective Sgt. Eileen Dodd of the Howell Police Department reported that around 7:20 in the morning 51-year-old Howell resident Victor Benis was driving north on Route 524A in his 1999 Honda Civic. At the same time 19-year-old Howell resident Alex Smith was attempting to make a left when he struck Benis' car. The collision caused "heavy damage" to Benis' car according to Dodd particularly to the front door and fender on the drivers side. Suffered smoke inhalation in Saturday fire
A 77-year-old homeowner was hospitalized after a fire damaged her Alexander Ave. home early Saturday morning. Detective Sgt. Eileen Dodd of the Howell Police Department reported that just before 5:30 the department and several other local agencies reported to Natalie Gorbpenno's home for a structure fire. The woman said she had lit a candle on Friday night and had fallen asleep with the flame still lit. When she woke up Saturday morning Gorbpenno reported the house was on fire. After being evaluated by EMS from the Howell Police Department she was taken to Kimball Medical Center for smoke inhalation. Motorcycle was hit by large SUV
The Howell Police Department announced on Monday night that 41-year-old Point Pleasant resident Scott Incalcatera was the man killed on Saturday when his motorcycle was struck near the intersection of Route 547 and Miller Road. According to Sgt. Joseph Markulic of the Howell Police Department Isidor S. Palmeri, 35, of Jackson was attempting to to make a left from the northbound lane in his 2013 GMC Yukon when he struck the Incalcatera who was traveling south. Markulic said Incalcatera, who was not originally identified pending family notification, attempted to stop and put the motorcycle on its side before being hit by the truck. The motorcycle was identified as a 2002 Suzuki GSXR 750. Incalcatera was pronounced dead at the scene. …

Both listed in stable condition
Sgt. Joseph Markulic of the Howell Police Department reported that at just before 10:30 on Thursday morning a two car crash occurred at the intersection of Route 547 and Randolph Rd. According to Markulic 48-year-old Jackson resident Kim Holden was driving north on Route 547. At the time 20-year-old Brick resident Jennifer Donlon was attempting to make a left from Randolph onto Route 547 South. Markulic said Donlon "failed to yield the right of way" to Holden which resulted in the accident. Markulic said that Holden was taken to CentraState Medical Center while Donlon was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Jackson resident injured in Accident
Thomas Brodowski, 69, of Jackson was injured when his 2004 Saturn Vue was involved in a one car crash on Aldrich Rd. on Friday morning. Detective Sgt. Eileen Dodd of the Howell Police Department reported that just after 11 a.m. on Friday Brodowski was driving west on Aldrich Rd. when he reportedly "blacked out due to an unknown medical condition." Continuing down the road Dodd said Brodowski hit a mail box a business sign and a tree. Dodd said when he hit the sign his car rolled onto the driver's side trapping Brodowski in the car.
