The man allegedly attempted to steal perfume valued over $200.
A Freehold resident has been accused of shoplifting from a Freehold Raceway Mall store. Odilio Rodriguez, 25, of Hull Ave, faces one charge of shoplifting after he allegedly attempted to take a bottle of perfume from Sears. According to his complaint warrant, Rodriquez was arrested and charged by Freehold Township Police on Tuesday, Jan. 15. The perfume Rodriguez allegedly attempted to steal was valued at $215. Rodriquez has been remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI) on $1,000 bail.

Ribbon cutting started on Friday and continues today
A 900 foot stretched across the length of the Howell Plaza on Friday morning as one of the largest shopping centers in Howell celebrated a grand reopening of one of its largest tenants. The Sears Hardware Store, now under new ownership is looking forward to a busy weekend with special deals as they celebrate their grand opening. With Mayor Robert Walsh, members of the Howell PAL and other local business owners in attendance a ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the shopping center on Friday morning kicking off the festivities. Today's event includes free food from Chick-fil-A, free raffles, clowns and balloons for the kids to enjoy. Sears Holding to close one store in New Jersey
The company that owns the Sears Hardware store and the K-Mart in Howell announced on Feb. 23 the closing of more stores throughout the country. In December Sears Holding announced that more than 100 stores would be closed in the future. At that time neither of the Howell locations was included in the list. Of the 15 added to the list of store closures, only the Kmart on Route 206 in Hillsborough came from the garden state. No stores in the state were part of the first and much longer list of closures released in December were located in New Jersey.
