Minor injuries reported
A 17-year-old Lakewood resident reportedly caused an accident on Route 9 after pulling out of the Friendship Mall parking lot late Wednesday night. Sgt. Thomas Weg reported that at 10:40 on Wednesday 26-year-old Howell resident Erica Sandomierski was driving in the right lane of Route 9 South when her car was struck by the teen. Weg said the Lakewood driver reported they did not see Sandomierski's car when they pulled out of the lot. Weg also said the Howell resident had tried to take "evasive action," but was "unsuccessful." The force of the crash caused Sandomierski's car to roll before coming to a rest on its roof in the left lane. She was taken to Kimball Medical Center for evaluation and treatment according to Weg. All districts seem to be keeping with minimal increases except for Ramtown District #4. According to the 2 articles in 2012 they asked for $907,693 and this year they are asking for $1,584,267. That's an increase of $676,574. Am I reading this correctly? What is the story on this? What are their capital expenses? I know it's only a tax increase of $70,246 to taxpayers, just wondering what the …   more ›

Playing on the same field that major league stars like Cole Hamels and Ryan Howard have honed their skills on Freehold Township and Howell police officers and firefighters came together to benefit two local families. By the time the night was over the Howell squad had come away with a dominating win but everyone involved agreed that the final score took a back seat to the overall good the game did. "It's just about bringing guys from Freehold Township and Howell together for a good cause to help out two kids in need," said Jamie Burdge of the Freehold Township police department.
