Candlelight Vigil Against Drunk Driving Pulls Heartstrings [VIDEO]

Members of the Students Against Destructive Decisions of Manalapan, Howell, and Colts Neck High Schools put on their annual candlelight vigil Wednesday.

The Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) of Manalapan High School, Howell High School and Colts Neck High School held their annual Candlelight Vigil Against Drunk Driving in Manalapan High School’s auditorium on Wednesday, Dec. 12. The SADD members took the time to inform people of the dangers of driving under the influence, which is at its height during the holiday season. The students read off alarming statistics about the high number of accidents involving drunk drivers and explained the importance of prevention education. Tears flowed down people’s faces as one student read a poem about a girl who chose not to engage in underage drinking at a party and then was later hit and killed by a drunk driver as she left the party. …

Rebels Take Part in Teen Driving Summit

SADD learns valuable lessons to help others

With prom season getting underway across the area the importance of teaching students about the dangers of drunk driving is at a fever pitch. Recently a group of Howell High School students took part in the Second Annual NJ Teen Safe Driving Summit.  Representing Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) attended the event in Freehold earlier this month as part of Global youth Traffic Safety Month. There were students from 14-to-16-years old in attendance as well as parents, educators and safety advocates according to Pam Fischer the leader of the NJ Teen Safe Driving Coalition.
