Mayoral Candidates Share Their Visions for the Future

There may have only been a handful of Howell residents at Georgian Court University on Wednesday night, but for the two candidates taking part who are seeking to succeed Mayor Robert Walsh it was a chance to get their message out in a new environment. Democrat William Field and Independent Elaine Taylor accepted the invitation to the Lakewood school to share their views while Republican candidate Deputy Mayor William Gotto had declined. Two Events This Week For Howell Mayoral Candidates

Chamber meeting and debate to be held on Wednesday

There is still a month to go until Election Day but this week the three candidates running for Mayor of Howell will have a chance to share their views with the residents of the township.  On Wednesday morning at 11:45 Deputy Mayor William Gotto will address a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce at The Cabin. This is the third and final meeting in a series hosted by the Chamber that also included Independent candidate Elaine Taylor and Democratic candidate William Field.  Wednesday night Field and Taylor will meet at a debate being held at Georgian Court University. Field Addresses Roads and Business During Chamber Event

Mayoral candidate makes his case ahead of November election

When he makes the drive to Rutgers University where he works as a professor William Field said he spends a considerable amount of time driving the Route 9 corridor.  It is that road which he said has inspired two of his major reasons for running for mayor as he looks at the empty storefronts while sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic. "The business climate is not very good," he said to members of the Chamber of Commerce who had gathered for the event at The Cabin. "Route 9 is off putting and our taxes, especially our municipal taxes are going through the roof." William Field to Address Chamber Event Tomorrow

The Howell Chamber of Commerce will hold its second of three events tomorrow giving candidates for Mayor of Howell a chance to address the business community. William Field, running on the Democratic ticket will have his turn at The Cabin starting at 11:45. Independent candidate Elaine Taylor had the first chance to talk at the chamber event last month and Deputy Mayor William Gotto is scheduled to appear at a similar event on Oct. 10.  Those interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP to the chamber at 732-363-4114.  For more information on all the races in November check out our election guide.

Democratic Candidates to Hold Fundraiser

Mayoral, Council Candidates to meet supporters

The Howell Democratic Party will be hosting a fundraising barbecue on Sunday for Mayoral candidate William Field and Council candidate Suzanne Wolff. The cost to attend is $20 per person and $30 per couple. Sponsorships are also available for $50. The barbecue is being held at 51 Peachstone Rd. and starts at 2 p.m. Checks can be made payable to Committee to Elect William Field or Friends of Wolff for council.  To RSVP email Karen@morlino.com or call 732-938-7927.
