Unanimous Vote ushers Daniel Simon Into Freehold Regional High School District
He had already been thinking about it for months, but when a former High Tech High School student’s mom invited Daniel Simon to be a guest at an important event at her son’s college, that was the clincher. Simon spent a decade as principal of High Technology High School before last year becoming the Superintendent of Wall Township Schools. His new gig was a central office job. It was Prime Time. He was the Big Cheese. But something was amiss behind the big superintendent’s desk. He was cut off from the students – one step removed from what attracted him to education in the first place, Simon said. “I think I underestimated how much I’d miss that aspect of it,’’ Simon said. “I attended as many (after-school) events as I could, but I …

Daniel Simon, current Wall Township Schools Superintendent, is slated to leave the embattled school district to join the Freehold Regional High School District, according to the high school district’s Board of Education meeting agenda. Students say goodbye to their second home for the past four years.
Faculty, family, and friends filled the bleachers at the Colts Neck High School football field to watch the Cougars of the class of 2012 graduate on this past scorching hot Wednesday, June 20. The ceremony began with the humorous salutatory address given by Kevin Bazer followed by the Valedictorian speech of Katelyn Villany. The theme of both speeches was looking back on the past four years while looking forward to the future. “I’m sure we are a bit uneasy about leaving the place that has been our second home over the past four years, but we’re all excited,” Villany said. “I have made friendships here that will last me a lifetime and I want to thank you for the impact you’ve had on me.” Principal Keith Land was proud to announce that of…

The threat was found only 5 days after the Colts Neck High School Evacuation
The Freehold High School is taking safety measures in response to a written bomb threat discovered on the school’s campus for Wednesday, Feb. 1, the district announced in a press release issued Tuesday. The district urged parents and guardians to talk to their children and impress upon them the seriousness of threats in today’s society. Students should be encouraged to notify them or school personnel should they hear of any planned or potential disruptive behavior. …

The school was evacuated today, but local officials determined the building was clear.
A "vague, non-specific" bomb threat was received this morning at Colts Neck High School, which led to an evacuation of the building. According to the district, the threat was a written threat found within the building. “The threat was actually a written message inside of a lavatory,” said Principal Keith Land in a news release. According to the Freehold Regional High School District, local law enforcement was called into the school around 10:30 a.m., and the evacuation is a standard district procedure. From the district: Explosive detecting dogs were deployed as a part of the emergency response procedures. No suspicious objects were found, and the administrators were cleared to prepare students for re-entry into the school. Around 12:45 …

I know these positions are advertised in certain areas, but it is quite evident what went on Manalapan. Perhaps you have not dealt with the asst. principals in our schools, but my children and I have in the past. There are a few very respected and competent ones who, I would hope and assume, would want to further their careers. There was at least one in Marlboro who was overlooked for Marlboro's …   more ›
