Howell Resident Charged With Lewdness at Manasquan Reservoir

Faced similar charges from other incidents

A township resident was arrested earlier this month after the Howell Police Department received reports of a man walking naked in the Manasquan Reservoir Parking Lot.  Detective Sgt. Eileen Dodd said when Ptl. Richard Robertiello and Ryan Richards responded to the scene  they found 66-year-old Raymond Haller standing naked next to his car. At just before 6 p.m. on March 11 Dodd said the park was open  and there were "a large number of visitors," in the area on what she described as a warm day.  Haller was charged with lewdness and issued a summons. Reservoir Boat Ramp Opening March 1

Rite of spring coming back

The Manasquan Reservoir will once again welcome boaters, fishermen and all nature lovers back to their tranquil waters starting on March 1.  The reservoir's boat ramp, located on Windeler Road, will be open through the end of November for anyone interested in taking to the water. Passes for the launch are available for $6 daily or $46 for the year.  According to the county, which runs the ramp, there is only electric power permitted and New Jersey State Boating laws and Park system rules and regulations are in effect on the water. A NJ Boating Safety Card must also be presented for motorboats and boaters 16-69 are required to have a valid fishing license.  For more information call 732-919-0996.

Local Runners Tackle Race at Manasquan Reservoir

Farmingdale resident finished third in female race

It was a busy day at the Manasquan Reservoir on Sunday as 107 runners converged for a five-mile race around the property.  Racers from around the Tri-State area came to Howell to run and in the end it was Angel Confesor from Brooklyn who won the men's race in 29:05.5. He was followed by Neptune's Pat Ford who ran a 30:14.1 and Dave Hallman of Wrightstown who was close behind with a time of 30:38.1. Winning the women's race was Tammy Minott of Wilmington, DE with a time of 36:10.1. Unlike the men's race Minott narrowly edged out her closest competitor in Wendy Kerr of Hawthorne who ran a 36:12.8 for a close second. The local towns were well represented in both races including Farmingdale's own Marian Westley who finished third with a time …

Manasquan Reservoir Named Top 100 Bass Fishing Lake in U.S.

Bassmaster Magazine ranks Howell watering hole 96th best spot in country

The Manasquan Reservoir was recently named by Bassmaster Magazine as one of the nation's top spots for bass fishing, NorthJersey.com reported.  The Howell reservoir was ranked 96th among the country's 100 best lakes for bass fishing. Lake Hopatcong, ranked 68th, was the only other New Jersey spot to make the list.  A panel of writers, editors, professional anglers and fishing industry veterans made the final decisions on a list that took months to compile, the news site reported.  The critera included each lake's current fishability, history, big-fish yield, quality potential and aesthetic surroundings, the report says.  The best lake in the country, according to the magazine, is Falcon Lake in Texas, which straddles the Rio Grande on the …
